Larsen's Jewelry & Half Interest Pawn has been at 211 N Main Street in Mobridge, South Dakota since 1941. Three families have run it in that time. The jewelry store came first; the pawn counter opened in 2017.
The name is literal. Our pawn loan rate is 25% per 30 days, half of South Dakota's legal maximum, so $100 borrowed is $125 repaid rather than $150. That rate applies to every loan at every amount, with no introductory period and no conditions attached. Loans require no credit check and are not reported to any credit bureau. If a loan is not repaid, the item is sold here and the debt ends. Nothing follows the customer.
We are the only jewelry store in Mobridge and the only one within roughly 90 miles with a pawn counter in the same building. One counter handles pawn loans, cash for gold, silver and platinum, diamond and estate jewelry, jewelry and watch repair, Black Hills Gold, silver bullion and coins, consignment and layaway. Gold and silver are tested and weighed in front of the customer, and the offer is explained before anyone decides.
Customers drive in from across north-central South Dakota, including Selby, McLaughlin, Timber Lake, Herreid, Pollock and Gettysburg, and from Fort Yates, North Dakota, 57 miles north. We accept tribal and out-of-state photo ID, and there is no residency requirement.
We are BBB accredited, hold a 4.8-star Google rating, and in 2026 were one of twelve shops named in PawnGuru's feature on America's oldest pawn shops, listed at 1941 alongside Beverly Loan Company and Zeidman's.
We do not accept firearms or ammunition under any circumstances.
